How to Use the Weld Mount System

How Weldmount Works

How to Use Weldmount Wire Ties

The Weld Mount System is a unique line of fasteners designed to be adhesively bonded to almost any substrate. We offer wire tie mounts, hose and cable clamps, studs, standoffs, and floating nutplates. All of our fasteners are mounted with our unique non-sag acrylic adhesives which hold the parts in place on a vertical or overhead surface providing a permanent high strength bond. Our adhesives are rated from -65 to 250 degrees and set in 15 minutes or less.

Weld Mount System parts eliminate the need to drill into composites core which can result in hull and deck delaminations. Our adhesively bonded fasteners eliminate the need to drill and tap when used on metal surfaces. Weld Mount fasteners are great for mounting electronics, wire runs, bilge applications and firewall wiring. Weld Mount System fasteners save both time and money, it's easy to use, it eliminates drilling and they are much stronger than traditional methods.

PARTS ARE READY TO USE IN LESS THAN 20 MINUTES

Using the Weld Mount System

STEP 1.
We recommend a solvent wipe of the substrate with alcohol or MEK to remove any grease, oil, mold release or dust to improve adhesion. Our acrylic adhesives will stick to most surfaces except Starboard, other low energy plastics, or rubber.
STEP 2.
Next install the cartridge of AT-2010 or AT-4020 in the dispensing gun and remove the cap. Be sure to set the cap aside for later re-installation to close the cartridge. Because air may settle into the cartridge during filling it is recommended that you dispense the first bit of adhesive from a new tube into a plastic bag for disposal.
STEP 3.
Next fix the AT-450 spiral mixing tip to the bayonet mount on the end of the cartridge and twist it 90 degrees to lock it in place.
STEP 4.
Dispense a line of adhesive down the center of the wire tie mount. Excessive adhesive does not improve the bond strength. If you set the gun down the adhesive may kick in the mixing tip. Do not try and force adhesive out of the tip as this may damage the dispensing gun. One tube of adhesive will install approximately 150 - 200 tie mounts. Try to plan your work in advance to allow continuous installation of parts to avoid using multiple mixing tips.
STEP 5.
Press the tie mount into the substrate pressing it down firmly until some adhesive comes out past the bottom. After a little practice you will determine the proper amount of adhesive to apply. The AT-2010 will kick in 5 minutes (depending upon temperature) and parts will be ready to use in 15 - 20 minutes. The AT-4020 will kick in 12 minutes (depending upon temperature) and parts will be ready to use in 30 - 35 minutes.
