John Mills (CEO) purchased Jamestown Distributors in 1997. Since then the business has grown and sales have more than doubled. The key to this growth is the dedicated and very capable employees. When the best people are working for you, John's philosophy is to back off and let them do their jobs unhindered by micro-managing. John's passions have always been boating and wood working. Combining his avocations with a successful business is a tremendous pleasure. He lives in Portsmouth, RI with his wife. They are blessed with six wonderful grandchildren.

Mike (the President of Jamestown Distributors) started in the warehouse ten years ago when the business was still located in Jamestown. He slowly worked his way into the marketing department and then the call center, and now, finally, somehow they put him in charge! The products and the website are his passion, but he does have to do some managing and general administrative things, as well. He and his wife Nina have three little girls. He enjoys sailing, fishing, surfing and kitesurfing. Mike grew up sailing dinghies in high school and college. After college he raced 505s and A Class catamarans... until he discovered kiteboarding. During the winter you'll find him in the shop working on a beetlecat or taking his kids skiing.

Ted is the Purchasing Manager at Jamestown Distributors. A year after graduating from the College of Charleston, Ted started at JD in 2003 as a retail store sales associate. He worked in the Call Center, as Store Manager, and in the Marketing/Web Development group before he finally found a home in the Purchasing Department in 2004. His current responsibilities include making sure we don't run out of stuff to sell and managing our expert team of purchasers and web content writers. Ted grew up sailing in Rhode Island and that still has a large influence on his life. He races the family-owned J/24 along with some other big boats, and competes in the occasional ocean race. Other interests include golf, skiing, sunsets and long walks on the beach.

Rui is the Warehouse Manager and has worked for Jamestown Distributors for four and a half years. Prior to that, he worked in retail for seven years. At 28 years of age, Rui has nine years of management experience (he is an early bloomer!). Born in St Michael, Azores, he was raised in Fall River, MA, and is fluent in two languages - English and Portuguese (four if you want to count Gibberish and Pig Latin). Rui's first job at Jamestown Distributors consisted of boxing hundreds of fasteners into boxes of 100, and now he has been managing our warehouse since 2006 (a true success story). In addition to managing our inventory, Rui and his team ensure that all of our orders are picked, packed and shipped to our customers daily. When not here at Jamestown Distributors, Rui enjoys the Boston Red Sox, and has been a big fan since the early 90's. He is, of course, a member of Red Sox Nation. He also enjoys football and loves hockey, that's right, hockey still lives on in Rui's heart!

Melanie is the Manager of Sales and Customer Service. She started with Jamestown Distributors in January of 2005 as a call center sales associate, and was promoted to her current position in December of 2005. Keeping customers satisfied, resolving service issues and ensuring that the customer service team is well-trained and well-informed are her main responsibilities. She has previous experience in retail, manufacturing and distribution. When she is not at the office harassing the help, Melanie enjoys gardening and entertaining.
