Technical Representative
Jamestown Distributors is looking for a Technical Representative. This Tech Rep will provide JD customers with information about our products and inform them of the best way to use these products for the customer’s particular application. This individual will have (or be willing to acquire) an in-depth knowledge of our product line in order to analyze the customer’s requirements and make suggestions for appropriate tools and products to ensure a successful completion of the customer’s project. Interpreting and resolving complex product questions is a routine part of the job. The Tech Rep will work closely with the web development team to ensure the information listed on our website is correct and complete. The Tech Rep will be expected to thoroughly research and resolve customers’ questions. The job includes helping and encouraging customers to use the JD website by guiding them through the process of placing an order. Tech Reps will be expected to explain and train others on products and lines and act as a liaison between the Product Managers and Call Center so that the Call Center team is kept up to date on new products and product changes.

Required Skills:
  • Ability to use a personal computer, including email, web search and word processing
  • A talent for communicating clearly, concisely and courteously with all customers
  • Boating experience
  • Hands-on experience with marine products

Call Center Sales Associate
Jamestown Distributors is looking for a Call Center Sales Associate. The Sales Associate must process customer orders quickly, accurately and in a professional manner. The job includes responding to customer inquiries regarding price, delivery and availability. Interaction with the Purchasing, Accounting and Marketing Departments is required to ensure the customer has appropriate and accurate product and account information. Upselling is an important function for this position to maximize the sales potential of any given phone call. The individual must have or develop product knowledge to provide a high level of service to the customer.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required:

Two or more years experience in a call center sales environment. Data entry and computer experience are a must. Boatbuilding or woodworking experience is also required.

Retail Store Sales Associate
Jamestown Distributors is looking for a Retail Store Sales Associate for our Bristol facility. Retail sales experience is required and boat building or woodworking experience is a big plus. The successful candidate will also have data entry and computer experience and excellent communication skills. This position requires attention to detail and good math skills. Additional responsibilities include packing shipments in the warehouse during times when store is slow.

Java Developer Position
  • Implement, develop and extend existing database-driven web applications using a MySQL DB, the SQL language, Hibernate API, Java, Struts / Tiles, JSP, HTML, CSS, OO programming and practices & MVC architectures, SOAP / XML / XSLT, AJAX, Tomcat and JavaScript
  • Add features and maintain an existing ecommerce website
  • Work from written project Statement of Work documents for larger projects and develop spec sheets from verbal directives given in meetings for smaller projects
  • Help define realistic goals and timelines for projects
  • Write and develop application code for scoped features and projects relating to an ecommerce website using existing frameworks and technologies and knowledge of common business logic
  • Expand the feature set of existing custom APIs and frameworks when required
  • Investigate and implement new technologies when required by a project
  • Test and debug all code written to ensure that features are bug free when released into production, including: developing Q /A and testing procedures, following developed Q / A and testing procedures and fixing all bugs identified during Q / A and testing

Requirements:

Bachelors degree in computer science or software engineering, or foreign academic equivalent, and two years of experience in the job offered or in web development using Java, Struts, Hibernate, JSP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and MySQL.
