Call Center Manager
At Jamestown Distributors, we love boats. Our focus is in helping boaters repair, build and take care of their boats. If you are a smart, driven customer focused leader who has experience building and managing call centers and sales teams, we are hiring! You MUST have proven experience building successful call centers.

The company's focus is on building a cutting edge e-commerce environment to strengthen our internet presence and to grow the company. The Customer Service/Sales Manager is responsible for all activities of Jamestown Distributors call center and sales for the purpose of maintaining existing sales and generating additional revenue from the sales of branded and non-branded products.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversees preparation of customer orders and handling of all correspondence with customers and company personnel dealing with inquiries, routing, shipping dates, pricing, specifications, product knowledge, and matters of a similar nature.
  • Supervises the activities of the customer service group. Develops strategies to ensure the highest level of expertise is provided to the customer.
  • Analyzes existing outside sales effort and makes suggestions for expansion/improvement.
  • Directs the execution of all sales orders, making sure that all terms, pricing, and specifications relating to the orders are acceptable.
  • Monitors sales outlets to assist them in the promotion and selling of product (both branded and OEM) and monitors customer service activities to assure sales objectives are being met.
  • Assures that pricing follows the established policy.
  • Acts as a liaison between customers, company personnel, and agents in handling questions and problems dealing with deliveries, specifications, inspections, etc.
  • Reviews the methods in use in the day-to-day activities of the customer service group, making improvements and revisions as required.
  • Monitors field sales and competitive activities for new developments in the market place.
  • Communicates on a timely basis with appropriate department managers on potential problem areas resulting from special order requirements concerning such items as back-orders, stock shortages, late delivery penalties, product liability exposure, new material specifications, credit risks, etc.
  • Develops and maintains accurate records on all accounts and key contacts within those accounts.
  • Provide timely reports on sales activities.
  • Responsible for the scheduling, training, monitoring, and evaluating of customer service personnel.
  • Establishes and maintains a professional relationship between the company and its customers.

Purchasing & Merchandising Agent
Jamestown Distributors is looking for the right candidate to join our Purchasing & Merchandising team. The candidate will work closely with Purchasing and Sales staff on a range of projects, focusing on inventory management, profitability analysis and reporting.

Required Skills:

Inventory Management
  • Purchasing and sourcing various marine industry products for inventory through a complex network of distributors and manufacturers both in the US and overseas
  • Actively find and pursue new opportunities for sourcing inventory to increase profitability
  • Generate quarterly GMROI reports on overall health of inventory and buy lines to maximize ROI
  • Perform competitive pricing analysis on our top competitors to maintain a fair and profitable price to the end user
The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to pay attention to detail and have the capacity to work independently but also participate in a team environment. Purchasing experience is required. Familiarity with marine supplies is a big plus. MS Excel experience required.

Technical Representative
Jamestown Distributors is looking for a Technical Representative. This Tech Rep will provide JD customers with information about our products and inform them of the best way to use these products for the customer’s particular application. This individual will have (or be willing to acquire) an in-depth knowledge of our product line in order to analyze the customer’s requirements and make suggestions for appropriate tools and products to ensure a successful completion of the customer’s project. Interpreting and resolving complex product questions is a routine part of the job. The Tech Rep will work closely with the web development team to ensure the information listed on our website is correct and complete. The Tech Rep will be expected to thoroughly research and resolve customer’s questions. The job includes helping and encouraging customers to use the JD website by guiding them through the process of placing an order.

Required Skills:
  • Ability to use a personal computer, including email, web search and word processing
  • A talent for communicating clearly, concisely and courteously with all customers
  • Boating experience
  • Hands-on experience with marine products
