Seafarer rope and chain deck pipe fittings have opening s to allow large thimbles to pass through deck pipe, and a slot accommodates up to 3/8 inch chain that remains in place when the door is closed. Hinged spring loaded door eliminates rattling when in the closed position. It slides and locks in an open position to allow for hands free feeding of the anchor rode. Mount using 1/4 inch fasteners.

This part is obviously a "second". The boss (thick part of casting) intended to be drilled and tapped for a screw that holds the chain for the cap was cast in front of the anchor rode cutout and could not be used. The thin part of the casting 180 degrees from the cutout was tapped, instead, so the screw is held less securely. Its too bad it wasn't fabricated correctly as the design is quite good otherwise. I'd point out the defect before recommending to a friend.
