Have had the unit on a $25 lawn tractor battery for three years continous, using the battery for quick starts of my cars and neighbor's tractors. The battery, maintaining the water level, is still holding a good charge.
The price might cause you to look else where but it is good reliable value for the money. It is well designed to support standard lead acid batteries to the full extent of their life.
