Battery Monitor worked great for 4 months. Screen went dark due to a failed shunt. Warranty replacement works OK.

This takes the guesswork out of monitoring my two Optima D34M house batteries and my Optima 34M starting battery. At a glance I can see the voltage of both sets of batteries without having to crawl down into the engine compartment with a voltmeter. It also displays the current flowing into or out of the house batteries so I can see how much juice I'm drawing at any given time or how much my charger is putting back in. Most useful is the "State of Charge" feature which calculates how much juice I have left and displays it as a percentage of total capacity. When I'm out night diving with the engine off and every light on the boat lit, it's nice to look over and see that I've still got 98% of my battery capacity left. It also displays how much time I can continue to burn the lights at the current rate so I know when I've finished diving the boat will still be lit and easy to find in the dark.
The installation was straight forward but you really have to study the instructions to get it set up to work optimally with your particular battery and charging system. The Optima Battery and Battery Minder (charger/maintainer) technical support guys were very helpful in supplying the information I needed to get the monitor programed correctly. However, once you do get it set up for your system, you're done. From then on the monitor operates completely automatically and keeps you fully informed about the state of your batteries and electrical system without any further fuss or fiddling.

This unit was with the included shunt and cable was a bargain. It is easy to install and seems to be very accurate.
My only reservations is that it is very lightly built of plastic and is not a sealed unit. It is marketed for boats but I can look through large cutouts in the back of the unit and see the circuit boards in it.
The second downside is the interface is a one line LCD and the nomenclature used makes scrolling through the menus very hard to understand. You will need to keep a copy of the manual with it to know what 90% of the settings or readings are until you learn the short hand symbology that they have assigned.
It is still a good value considering the Link Pro's price doesn't include the cable or other parts that are needed to install it.
One other downside is this unit is unable to monitor battery temperatures like the linkpro units.

I purchased for use in my Airstream travel trailer to monitor the batteries. The BMV 602 description says it is for two batteries. It should be more clear. It will monitor two batteries only if they are for completely seperate loads, where as I have two batteries in parallel but it seems to monitor them as one big battery as I ran both negatives from each battery to the BAT lug on the shunt and then one larger lead from the shunt to my distribution center.
The BMV 602 is incredible! Very easy to use, very easy to learn. Now I can measure the amp draw on each individual light or accessory, get a total draw, know what the state of charge of my batteries, an alarm for when they need to be recharged and much much more. I highly recommend this monitor.
