I used this on my 1995 Bayliner 1700 ls. I got the 15ft cable. The way the old cable was run made it impossible to remove without having to unmount the outboard motor and slide it over to the port side. I didn't have the lift to do this with so instead I removed the old cable by cutting it with a hack saw and then I made a new hole in the spash well to route the new cable such that it would not bind as I installed it.

Why did i wait! that was an easy fix to cure cranking on my steering wheel all that time.2 people could make the install alittle easier but still got the job done under an hr by myself.

This was the fix I needed for hard steering. The original cable was corroded inside the cover near the engine. I ordered a foot longer than original cable to allow for smoother routing of the cable. Hardest part of the job was removing the cotter pin at the back of the 7.4l engine in the cramped engine compartment.
