Comments about Interlux Interlux InterProtect Watertite Epoxy Filler:

I used the Watertite filler for a few dents & scrapes, and some faring on a Hacker-Craft mahogany runabout, below the water line. This is the easiest filler I've ever used. Since it is a 1:1 ratio, mixing can not be simpler. It trowels like butter, even upside down, and it's 100 times easier to tool than drywall mud (for comparison purposes only - DO NOT use drywall mud on your boat!). It cures quickly. Try to tool/trowel/level it while you are working it because that is much easier than trying to fix it later with sandpaper. It cures hard - which is what you want.

Great stuff! mix in small batches becouse it gets stiff real fast. Don't leave to much overlap becouse when it sets up it is hard as nails.

best product for gelcoat repairs

Comments about Interlux Interlux InterProtect Watertite Epoxy Filler:

I have tried to use Interlux's Interfill to repair blowouts in the gelcoat below the water line, but find it too stiff to be able to force it into the voids and still get most of the overfill off the surrounding gelcoat in order to reduce the sanding effort afterward. Working time is a bit short.

I have also tried Epiglass (without any filler added) and it runs like egg white -- does'nt stay put. Definitely needs filler for this application, which makes it much too expensive and even more complicated to mix.

Watertite, on the other hand, spreads like mayonnaise, is very easy to work with, and has a longer pot life than Interfill.

Oh yes, there is 3M's Marine Premium FIller. Don't try to mix more than a golf ball sized batch -- it gets to stiff to use in 10 minutes. I can't imagine why the directions on the can give proportions for up to 8 oz batches.
