Comments about Akempucky Akempucky Fastener Lubricant:

I have always applied a little dish soap to wood screws before putting them into hard woods like oak or maple. Recently I bought a small container of Akempucky and will keep it on hand for every job. It makes screwing into any material much smoother and easier, reducing incidents of head stripping of screw breakage. It's easy to apply, you just twist the screw into the tube and then pull out the screw so that some of the waxy textured Akempucky sticks in the threads. I do find it I am using it up quickly, but it is pretty inexpensive and has certainly paid for itself in the number of brass silicon screws I have put in successfully rather than destroyed.

Comments about Akempucky Akempucky Fastener Lubricant:

I first used Akempucky last summer when I rebuilt my Gulf of Mexico dock. Used 4" square drive stainless steel wood screws to fasten new 2 X 6 and 2 x 8 planks to 20+ year old pressure treated dock beams which were still in good shape under the old planks. Akempucky greatly reduced screw drive effort and snapping-off of screws, a problem with soft stainless steel screws even though pilot holes were pre-drilled. Must be applied to each screw but probably speeded up job net net; definitely easier on your body with Akempucky on your screws. Stiff wax applied easily in warm-hot Florida temperatures.

Comments about Akempucky Akempucky Fastener Lubricant:

I must say I didn't have any trouble driving a 4 inch screw with just a bit of this on the tip but I suspect I could have driven them dry with the pilot hole I had. I would rather have used something that would give me a seal against weather and have that be the lubricant. It was recommended that I use dolfinite although I have never tried it.

Comments about Akempucky Akempucky Fastener Lubricant:

Yes, lubricating screws make them drive easier and snap less often. It will also tend to keep them from bonding to uncured epoxy. This product is a nice consistency and very effective, but perhaps the best feature is the package. I keep this small tube in a pencil pocket of my shop apron, so it's there when I need it. My chunk of beeswax sits in my tool chest and is rarely used.

Comments about Akempucky Akempucky Fastener Lubricant:

Used on my sailboat floorboards and home deck, and it saves a lot of twisted off screws and the frustration that goes with them.
I would use this anytime I was putting a fastener in wood.
