#8 Flat head square drive self tapping screws. Sometimes called sheet metal screws or self tappers, these stainless steel fasteners are common for home repairs as well as installing hardware on your boat. Flat Head is the most common screw head type, and is used for general fastening when the screw head will be flush with the surface, or when it will be countersunk and the hole will be plugged. Square drive allows for greater fastening torque to be applied by the driver without worry of fastener head stripping or cam-out.

The project I bought these screws for was a screened enclosure for a through-the-wall air conditioner. The enclosure was designed to improve the appearance of the installation and to screen out insects and debris.I used dimensional PVC for the frame, and chose stainless steel screws because the enclosure would be totally exposed to the weather. The square drive screws held up much better during installation than Phillips head screws would have.The price for the screws was very good[...] the quality was great. I would not hesitate to order again.

I prefer square drive fasterners because they don't strip out at the head the way other fasters have done in the past.
