Bronze rudder pintles are used primarily to attach a rudder to the stern or transom of a sailboat. The pintles are designed to fit onto the rudder, pins facing down, and the pintles fit into the appropriate sized gudgeon, which is attached to the stern of the boat. Pintles are measured by the width between their straps. These items are sold individually, Pintles and Gudgeons sold separately. Bronze is one of the most anticorrosive metals used, and also gives the boat a traditional look and feel. Use round-head, truss-head or pan-head bronze screws/bolts for attaching the pintles to the rudder; 1/2" pintles take #8 fasteners, 3/4" take #10, and 1" and 1-1/2" take #12 fasteners.
