I just returned from sailing with my Bernard winch handle in two pieces! It broke in half under medium load. I have another Bernard winch handle that I'm going to replace this afternoon because I don't want to risk having another one break!!

The square insert fits my star-shaped winch socket all right, but there is nothing to keep it in place but gravity. I wanted an inexpensive spare, and this will be my backup, but I prefer another floating handle that locks in place.
