Comments about Crescent Crescent 148 Piece Tool and Socket Set:

Great compact set for boat or RV. All three rachet sizes a big plus. I have many Snap-On and craftsman tools, and for the price this is a hard set to beat for normal usage. And normal usage doesn't include a big hammer or cheater pipe!

Comments about Crescent Crescent 148 Piece Tool and Socket Set:

So I purchased two of these for two of my sons who have recently purchased homes. They did not have a "set" of tools already, which are necessary for home ownership. Needless to say, they are not your avid fixer up'ers. So when I got a call from both of them saying they were very pleased with the quality and amount of items within this set, I knew it was a good purchase. Great item for new home owners.

Comments about Crescent Crescent 148 Piece Tool and Socket Set:

I was attracted to this tool set because of assumed convenience of having all tools in one place (case) and the case was higher quality than the last set I bought at Sam's Club. That case had poor hinges which failed just after I bought it. That was a Channel Lock set. I was correct about the higher quality two door case which is great.

As regards the tools - the tools are adequate for most light use. However, they are definitely not acceptable regarding quality or perhaps more accurately, precision. The sockets just do not fit bolts and nuts precisely like a Craftsman tool or best Snap-On (I only have a few of them). Therefore, it is not uncommon that they slip or just feel sloppy.

IF you want a back-up set for traveling, your boat (not SS), or whatever, this is not a bad collection and the case is great. However, if you have to do some serious wrenching on your vehicle or boat spend another $30-$50 bucks and go Craftsman, they are just better tools.

Last comment - the ratchet wrenches are decent to good which is cool

I would recommend for light use or backup but not fore serious work

I use this set daily. The lifetime no questions asked warranty is one of the best out there. A phone call and your new tool is on the way. In tight spaces these ratchets out-do the competition with a much smaller degree to get to the next "click". The wrenches have stood up to some pretty rough work with no de-lamination or bending. I couldn't be happer with my purchase.

Disappointing general use tools - these are not speciality items - one would expect they would stand up to normal use

Comments about Crescent Crescent 148 Piece Tool and Socket Set:

I like this tool set, I use it almost every day. Its mostly a wrench set but also has a pliers, wire cutter, screw drivers, and allan wrenches. The socket wrenches are 1/4, 3/8 & 1/2 inch drive with deep sockets, adapters and extensions. All snap into the well made plastic case so when you close it nothing falls out. The tools are well made and a pleasure to use. As an owner of many Craftsman and Husky tools, this is at least as good as if not better. Its four or five stars.
