Having both a fixed base and a plunge base for the router is a great way to go. I mounted the fixed base to a router table and use the plunge base for all free-hand work. It is easy and quick to change out the motor from base to base. Cheaper to buy the kit than it would be to buy two routers. The carry case comes in handy too.
