I had one of these locks securing the hatch to my sailboat that has worked great for 3 years (covered by canvas) so I bought one to lock the motor for my dinghy. Used it often and kept lubricated.
After less than a year the tumblers started corroding, and the internal mechanism froze up (tumblers would still turn, but hasp would not release). I had to rent bolt cutters to remove.
These locks are likely fine for fresh water areas or indoor use, but not for long term use in an area surrounded by salt water. Problem is, I know of no other lock that's better!
