The Bahco (formerly Sandvik) Ergo 650 is an ergonomically designed multi-purpose scraper with 2 in. carbide blades for precision work and longer life. The Ergo no. 650 power scraper is designed for universal use on wood, metal, and concrete, to scrape materials such as paint, glue, varnish, and rust. Flat carbide blades are convex to avoid damaging the work surface. 2-component handle for better grip and comfort. The slimline front makes this scraper easier to use in tight spaces, and redesigned angle between blade and scraper makes it more comfortable for your knuckles.

I use this scraper to clean fine teak railings when the varnish has gone bad. It cleans well without damage to the wood and is easy to use. Blades will be damaged by contact with screws or other hardware so I always carry spares. In concert with a heat gun this is the best tool I can think of to make the day go well and be ready to seal and varnish as rapidly as possible without sacfificing the quality of the finished product.

Scrapes through layers of varnish with ease (with heat gun - even better!)
Scrapes off antifoul paint just as well!

Our preservation team uses 3 different types of this tool and the construction and durability can't be beat...would last a life time, but blades are pricey.....
