I have been using this product for the past three years. No more scum line..no bottom growth or barnacles..increased water slippage(fast and increased fuel savings).I touch up the scum line every other year. The boat is on a mooring for the season so what a relief to not have to bottom paint every year.My friends are converting you should too.

I'm a Cabinetmaker for 24 yrs. If you want to paint your bottom once every 3-4 yrs. pending on use, then this product works. Use a red mohair roller to keep splatter down to 0% roll slowly. Follow all directions for this product. Understand that weather conditions play a hug role in your satisfaction. Call the manufacture for unanswered questions. My boat is trailered and I see no fault in its first season (2010). This material does not shine, it does not claim to shine. Build up the coats the first time as directed and you too will be pleased.

Comments about Interlux Interlux Micron CSC Antifouling Bottom Paint:
This paint is great but you REALLY need to take your time and prep your boat properly if you want the great looks and long lasting performance.
1) You really need to start from bare gel coat so if your bottom has a lot of caked on old peeling hard paint, you need to have it soda basted off. See a professional. If you have a bare bottom, make SURE you get all the mold release wax OFF!! you need to sand the bottom to rough it up and wipe with the suggested solvent to get all the wax/oils off the hull. (is your bottom paint peeling off in patches?...whomever painted it did not prep the bottom as mentioned above)
2) move the boat OUT OF THE SUN, best if indoors on a hard surface. (It is much easier to paint, the paint will not dry(cure) too fast)
3) apply 4-5 coats of epoxy barrier coat. (no I am not kidding) Apply each coat after the previous coat is tacky. This stuff is awesome and will save you hull from blistering or water absorption and is nearly bulletproof. You will do this once in a boats life and it will extend the life of the bottom and prevent blistering.
4) apply at least 3 coats oc ablative micon CSC. MIX THE PAINT OFTEN, the active stuff settles out. Try and get the first coat on when the last coat of barrier coat is still a little tacky. Some folks prefer to put a different color bottom paint for a first coat (say red) then paint your preferred color on top of that. When you see red, it is time to put another coat of your preferred color on. I don't care to do that but it is a popular thing to do nowadays.
After all this you bottom worries are really over. You just have to touch up or re-coat with a single coat every other year (or when you see red). You will never have a build up and there is no growth, it looks great and most importantly your bottom is nearly bullet proof and impervious to seawater and it will never be absorbed by the gel-coat.
Yes, you can just slap this over old hard paint but, it will look like you did just that, will not protect your bottom against water absorption and will peel if you don't prep right. (been there done that!) Do it right ONCE and you will be happy for the life of your boat.
If it is too much work hire a GOOD boatyard to do it and it will be well worth the money. (Let them do the ugly stuff the first time, and you can touch it up every other year after) Bottom painting is a pain and a messy job but if done right it looks great, lasts and really protects.

Was having trouble finding the type and color paint and local stores were expensive. Did some Web surfing and found Jamestown. Thought I'd try

I did a four coat base of Interprotect 2000 and then 3 coats of Micron CSC. A lot of work but well worth it. Products performed as stated in the tech facts.. Plenty of good info on proper use of these products is available. I'm very happy with the results.

Comments about Interlux Interlux Micron CSC Antifouling Bottom Paint:
Work fast: it splatters & thickens quickly. Work slow: it thickens to mud, so lightly dilute frequently. Apply to roller with an old sqeeze ketchup/mustard bottle to avoid evaporatitive ($$$$)thickening in paint can/tray. When dry it rubs off like chaulk - keep the dog at home!
Easy to apply and it fills small cracks etc. Minimize exposed skin, wear goggles. Wax top sides first (if possible). Waxing and A/F all need warm weather preferrably over 70 F for a few hours while applying.
VC-17 gives a slightly faster bottom in fresh water but can not be applied over CSC.
Power Wash-Balded CSC can be touched-up in spring after a good base is built up (3 of 9 seasons would get dbl coats, then touch ups on off years)
****Power wash at haul-out YOURSELF or closely supervise attendant - make sure only growth washed off and nozzzle does not dwell or you'll need 2+ coats every spring!$$$$$
****Must be completely stripped (power wash, sand, rinsed before any other A/F can be used! I tried the rudder and gave up on the haul. It's really time consuming & expensive to remove completely for VC17.
The waterline and leading edges must be recoated every year. Bronze VC17 is faster, looks better especially at the waterline/dockside. I suspect ablative paints (dissolve into water - wearing off) are less green-friendly than a VC-17 which is a permanent but must be applied annually. On my boat it is 4-5 qts of CSC every 3 years vs 1 qt of VC 17 annually.

Comments about Interlux Interlux Micron CSC Antifouling Bottom Paint:
All the great reviews are what made me go with this product, but... I restored an old boat and replaced probably 90% of the wood. I painted the hull with this product in the blue color. It turns chalky and lightens substantially in color. The upper sides are a beautiful, shiny mahogany while the bottom is a chalky, drab, blue. I'm not impressed...especially for the price.

This is Anthony Z, and I thought this product was excellent for the bottom of my 1965 Glasspar G-3 Ski-boat. When I put it on I rolled it on. The results are phenominal. What I like about it is that it is like a rhino liner/rough. I will be ordering from you guys real soon. Also I would recommend you guys to anyone who has a boat.
Thanks,
Anthony Z

Used it on my 19 foot Sea Hunt. Two coats, looks great. Purchase one gallon and have plenty left for a complete repaint or many years of touch up.

super good bottom paint for New Jersey and northern waters, works very well and I am in the water for 9 out of 12 months a year, lasts two years with minimal touchups and I have little or no growth at all. easy to use and less costly than Micron 66 which is outstanding but much more in price.[...]

Comments about Interlux Interlux Micron CSC Antifouling Bottom Paint:
I've used this paint on my boat for 5 years. When I first bought it, I gave a quick sand to the existing paint, then applied 3 thick coats of Micron. I haven't had to paint the bottom since (not including the shafts, tabs, rudders, etc.)
I simply touch up the waterline and above for looks, and then a few quick spots beneath. This paint holds up extremely well, doesn't flake, and resists growth unlike anything else (IMO). I saw boats hauled out of the marina loaded with barnacles. I could could the number I had on one hand. It saves me a ton of time in the spring because I don't have to paint the entire bottom.
It's a little messy and takes forever to get off your hands even if it's wet, but that goes for most bottom paints. It's easy to roll and stays on the shelf forever. In the Spring I just pull the skin off, give it a good stir, and I'm ready to go.
