This is the required undercoating for the Cetol Marine Gloss. It does contain pigment that will darken the golden color of your wood, so if you are concerned about that issue, check first on a donor piece of wood. They do sell a clear or near clear version of this product, but I wanted this one because it will keep UV light off the wood and keep the wood from changing color.

Great product line, far superior to regular varnishes or other synthetics, in my opinion.

i have used this product for 7 yrs. i finally had to reorder another quart,because this product lasts longer than any other! goes on easily, dries faster, and its luster is teriffic! i would reccomend this to anyone with any type of wood,which is exposed to the elements year round.

Goes on easily and lasts four to five years before needing renewal coats on my mahogany and other outdoor wood furniture. Sikkens Cetol Marine has kept my furniture looking new for almost 20 years!
Also makes removal of accumulateddirt and pollen very easy with Endust or Pledge.

Almost 20 years ago we bought a mahogany picnic table and benches, chaise, adirondack chair, etc. This product, recommended by a boating friend, has enhanced the color subtly and protected the furniture for all these years, needing a light sanding and reapplication about every 5 to eight years. It goes on easily, dries fast, and leaves a beautiful, easy to clean satin finish. I have only used one or two coats, not the recommended three (I'm a little lazy), or the finish would probably have lasted much longer. It is expensive but worth every penny! Works just as well with our furniture made of other exotic hardwoods.

I have used Marine Cetol on my trawler in Florida for years but have recently moved to the North Country in NY State. My recent project includes a hot-tub room in a 3 season enclosed porch with walls and ceiling in tongue and groove white cedar. Marine Cetol has given the room an aged and lodge-like look that we were wanting. It will also add protection from the high humidity from hot-tub use.

Product goes on very smoothly and covers well. I used this product on a teak table and chairs and applied the recommended 3 coats. The finished product looks beautiful! I had used another product previously and the end result was not nearly as good looking.

This product really holds up. We have one of those long porches on our Craftsman style home. The floor on the porch was always hit hard by the winters in PA. We previously used other outdoor varnished and were't satified because we had to recoat every year. So far, this has lasted 2 years and still looks great. When people come to visit, our porch with the great looking wood floor is always the first thing they comment on.

Now, I'm refinishing the railing inside our home, all the paint/varnish built up over the 100 years is gone and I'm ready to use this product again
