VM & P Naptha is a highly volitile mixture that acts as a fast drying paint thinner for oil based paints, enamel and varnish. Drys quickly, so is not recommended for cleaning brushes. VM&P stands for 'Varnish makers and painters'.

This stuff is absolutely the best degreaser I have found over the years. Unlike Acetone, it doesn't evaporate almost as you pour it on your cleaning rag, and unlike Mineral Spirits, Naptha doesn't take years to dry, and it leaves almost no residue.
The only drawbacks, are you have to be careful not to get Naptha on non-baked paint finishes, and even on baked paint finishes, you have to remove Naptha quickly, in order to avoid dulling of the Finish. You also have to be careful around some plastics with Naptha.
