Fuller Type R Counterbores have two flutes to cut a flat bottom hole in wood or plastics for heads of screws, rivets, or nails. Extension lip pattern cutting edges cuts a clean hole without tearing the wood. These stainless steel bores are hardened enough to hold an edge and yet can be sharpened with a file.

Comments about W.L. Fuller Type R Counterbores:

As a church we are setting up so that people can build their own interior storm windows, double-glazed with heat-shrink plastic. As of yet, have not found an acceptable counterbore for the pine we are using for frame stock. What is needed is a counterbore that cuts like a forstner bit so that the wood has a place to go, it just loads up in these, and then you have to go at it several times with the drill press. I think these are as good as they can be, of this design.
