If you need a small router this one can't be beat. It is the best tool for trimming edge banding that I have ever used. I own 5 different routers a I just love this one. It is easy to control and is very precise.

Comments about Festool Festool MFK 700 Modular Trim Router:
I recently purchased a Festool MK700 router. The bottom line is that this is one of the most useless pieces of woodworking equipment I now own. Specifically:
1. The owner's manual is of minimal value. It was clearly not written or edited by someone with a facility for English; the illustrations are amateurish, if not at times confusing.
2. The short column stroke renders most conventional router bits useless. For example, I was not able to raise the column high enough to use a one inch C.M.T. roller bearing bit to trim a table edge. The implication here is that only the nine bits Festool makes for the MK 700 can be used.
3. Cannot see the path of a bit when routing; have to trust the markings on the base plate. This is really not acceptable when routing something like a curved rabbet for stringing on a table top. Basically, it is like routing blind.
This is like having a saw which cuts only one type of wood in one direction. At a third the price, my old Bosch Colt has significantly more functionality and usability. Clearly, I would not purchase another Festool product, nor would I recommend this particular tool to anyone.

I am a Festool fan. This tool is a great addition to the tool shop. Very compact, lightweight yet plenty powerful. A great little tool.
