Comments about Festool Festool Vacuum CT 22 HEPA Dust Extractor:
I run a shop where we do light woodwork, routing, sanding, polishing, etc...
We were using a common hardware store brand shop vacuum for all of these duties, and the noise was killing us. You can't talk on the phone or talk to a customer in the shop while the vacuum is running. It's just too much noise.
Enter the Festool. Wow. I can literally talk on the phone while vacuuming with this thing. The speed dial allows you to turn it down for even quieter operation. You can dial it back up when you need extra suction.
I use this with the 5" Festool DA Sander. It doesn't leave any dust behind. I was shocked. No need to wear a mask. No need to vacuum the bench later. It will suck boards right off the table if you don't dial the speed of the vacuum down. Set it to just float like an air hockey table, and you've got it right.
I watched several videos on Youtube demonstrating these before settling on the CT-22. I decided I would like the HEPA filters and a little more power when I need it. If I were strictly working out on job sites, I might go with the Midi for extra portability. This thing is pretty big. Not tall, but long and pretty heavy. Look at the specs on sizes and weights and decide which is best for you.
If stolen, I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

This vacuum sucks and not in a good way. To think you can use this to capture dust is silly, it clogs within 20 minutes of use. You will spend more time on the filters than you will vacuumming dust.

The CT22 is a pleasure to use. A fraction of the noise as created by the typical shop vac with no fine dust thanks to the Hepa filter. Tool activation is a big plus. The housing is designed to accept the Festool storage boxes. Very well engineered system.
