Comments about 3M 3M PAPRs:

If you work around dust and paint fumes for a living this is an investment and not just a purchase. I have been building and repairing guitars for 13 years and after acquiring asthma I decided to make this purchase. At first it seemed bulky, but it is way more comfortable than a negative pressure respirator once on. I feel more relaxed while working, leading to better work quality.
The only con is that I have accidently unhooked the battery cable while walking through tight areas in my shop, as the cable is on the belt behind me.

If you make your living around dust and paint fumes I think this product is a must.

If you have a beard and smoke, this is the best option. Don't have to pass a fitness test b/c air is on a positive feed supply. Since the filtered air blows over your face, it keeps you cooler, and doesn't need to seal around your jaw. Now that I've made the jump to PAPR, I've forever retired the full face respirator. If you work in a boatyard like me and have a beard, ask the manager to hook you up. This mask will keep you cranking when the heat is up. The peel away film for painting works great.

The PAPR units are well made and perform just as they ought to. Very comfortable and quiet running. A big step up from the usual face mask respirators. If you are spraying toxic type paints the PAPR is a great way to go.
