2012-03-23DANIEL FLYNN: The Windex does not come with a transponder for connecting your UHF antenna as shown in the picture. You only get the windex, spreaders and some plactic tubing. You would have to purchase that separately. There are no cable connections with the Unit I purchased.
The windex slides over the UHF antenna. I had to purchase a short piece of aluminum tubing(12" by 1/8" diameter) from Lowes to extend the Windex above my sailboat mast and slide a plastic tubing at the top of the antenna to keep it from blowing off . The spreaders, with the reflectors, were made of heavy duty wire and would not allow the washers supplied with the windex to work with my transponder. I left them off when connecting the transponder to the UHF cable connector. The cable connector for the UHF antenna cable was a screw type coax connector. I was able to screw in the UHF connector without the washers.
It was easy to install as I had the mast down. My antenna is side mounted and not truly on to of the mast but the rubber "keeper" enabled me to set the vane 5" higher up the antenna and using the original protector of the whip with it's tip cut off I can now keep the vane in its place on the 1/8" diameter antenna.

My masthead is pretty cluttered- this Windex was the only one that would fit. I really like the fact that it mounted on my current radio antenna. It is very easy to see and is a big help when keeping track of the wind's direction.
