2011-11-09RALPH MULLALLY: I just made a similar wire harness for a remote trim switch for my outboard. The size of the wire depends on a number of factors.
1. The length of run.
2. The amp draw.
3. The I.D. of the wire socket hole in the plug.
You can find the wire size, max amp rating and length for gage size on the wire packaging or wire chart at your local hardware store.
I'm not sure if these plugs show a max. amp rating; but, they are very easy to use.
