Perko Folding Steps are constructed from chrome plated manganese bronze for extreme durability in marine environments. A stainless steel spring holds the step in the open or closed position, and mounts using 5/16 inch fasteners (not included). The Perko Folding Step can be mounted on the stern, transom, cabinside, mast, etc. areas of a boat.
I bought a boat with these steps on each side of the cockpit. The previous owner put them in to help him step up onto the walkaround section easier. The problem with these is that they rattle like crazy when you're cruising and can get really annoying. The steps tend to fall down as they get older so I was constantly banging my shins on them too. They're also too small to be useful (IMO) unless you have boat shoes on.
