2013-01-31NICK ALEXAKOS: I'm not sure the weight but it is a heavy top loading refrigerator door.

2013-02-01ROGER OVE: I can't give you a definite number, but I used these to replace lift springs that hold open the hatch over my live well, that is a solid piece of starboard about 3 x 1.5 feet, may 3/4" thick. It is difficult to close it without bending the springs first. The hatch probably weighs about 5 pounds. In rough water I doubt the lid would stay up, but other than that it is secure. I also use them on a overhead hatch that is much lighter, and they hold that hatch securely open. How much they can support probably depends on exactly how you mount them, so that the force of the supported weight is along the length of the spring.
2013-02-01ANTHONY BUSCAGLIA: The one I bought was good for 40 lbs. you need to have a latch to hold the cover down . One the latch is released it will spring Ito action.
2013-02-01DAVID AVERY: It usually goes by lenth. When ordering it should tell you what the weight limit is. It took me several tries, good luck.
