Questions & Answers about 316 Stainless Thru-Hull Fittings with Hose Barb Connectors:
2013-03-20TONY MACHADO asked: What is the cut out size for the SEA-076553? or the thread diameter size.
+Expand Answers
2013-03-25Kerry Souza: The cut out size is 2 inches with a max hull thickness of 3 inches. Thank You.
2012-09-26A shopper asked: How thick is the flange?
+Expand Answers
2012-09-28HERB DELOACH: flange has a slight taper
at the center(where the discharge hole is) .260 or a little over 1/4"
at the outer edge .160 or .027 less than 3/16"
flange diameter 1.570 or close to 15/8"
Thru hull hole size 7/8"
actual diameter of thru hull portion .820
for 5/8" hose--slip on
provision to hold from inside or outside when installing
nicely made,excellent quality
2012-09-28GAVIN ELLIS: 3/16" maybe? It is very heavy duty.
2012-09-29DARRELL MOORE: The outer flange is very thick, these are quality fittings. It's been a while since I installed the two I bought and I do have an extra.I believe the outer to be at least 1/4",it is beveled,so it's hard to say exact. My problem getting these we're that I was using them over the waterline on a pro sports catamaran to replace the plastic thru-hull fittings for the bilge ,they made the pro sports hulls very thick,so I almost ran out of threads,it's hard to find 11/8 stainless long enough for the 2" hull thickness that I had. The overall length was more critical for me,sorry I couldn't help more.
2012-09-30LARRY PURCELL: The flange is pretty thick - between 1/16 and 1/8 inch. It tapers from thinnest at the outer edge to thickest at the hole.
2012-09-30BENJAMIN DAVIS: Flange thickness varies depending on size of the fitting. However, if you look at the chart provided when ordering, take the overall lenght and subtract the length of the barb, subtract the length of the threads and the remaining length is the thickness of the outer flange. for the smaller diameter thru-hull fittings it's about 1/4" for example and a little thicker for the larger fittings.
2012-10-01DAVID GILBERT: Sorry but just guessing from my desk here as the connector is already installed. I am using it for a bilge pump overflow high off the transom. I surface mounted it with screws right onto fiberglass and it sits out not more than half a cm from the surface. Never ran any water through it and hope I never will!! Looks good though. I wondered if I should put a plug in it just in case I get swamped from following seas!!! Then I would forget to pull the plug when I am holed and sinking!!
2012-08-26RICHARD CUNNINGHAM asked: I need a thru the hull (side near stern) drain for a bilge pump using 3/4 inch hose. Will this fitting in a 3/4 size do the job?
+Expand Answers
2012-08-30GUY RAHN: Yes. I recently purchased and installed the larger version for my higher capacity pump. This is a good quality unit.
2012-08-30Chip Lawson: I have a number of these thru-hulls in my boat (Pearson 40) in 5/8", 3/4" and 1 1/2" diameters and they are excellent for above the waterline thru-hulls. I use them for bilge pump, propane locker drain and generator exhaust. Very peased with their performance and quality.
2012-08-31NICHOLAS CERINO: YES , THIS TRU-HULL 3/4" SOULD DO THE JOB FOR BIELGE PUMPS WITH 3/4" OUTLET.
2012-08-31BARRETT WILSON: Barbed fittings are sized by the I.D. of the hose. So, your answer is yes. If you're in a tight spot, be sure you have enough room for everything to work (don't kink the hose). BW
2012-08-31MICHAEL JAMPEL: This fitting will fit a hose that has a 3/4 inch inside diameter. Order one that has enough thread length to exceed the thickness of the hull.
2012-08-31MICHAEL VOLLE: yes just make sure about the hull thickness ==there are differnt fittings for differnt hull thicknesses
2012-08-31STEVEN REBORI: That should be fine. You should get plenty of water flow
2012-09-01LARRY PURCELL: Just did the same thing for two bilge pumps and these appear to work fine. The barb fits 3/4 inch ID hose with room for two hose clamps. The fitting feels substantial and comes witha rubber gasket for sealing against the hull; it also has two small prongs in the throat so your helper (on outside of hull) can stop it from turning as you tighten the nut from the inside. I also coated both sides of the gasket with clear silicone sealant before installation.
2012-09-04WAYNE STEINHOUR: Richard,
Yes, the size refers to the inside diameter of the hose that fits the barb. I just bought a 1" fitting for 1" hose for a cockpit drain. Before you buy, you should make sure that your hull thickness will work. For my cockpit drain, 1 thru-hull needed to go in the cockpit floor and another in the stern. My stern was too thick for one of these and I had to go with a bronze fitting.
Good luck.

It is fine if it had a way to hold it from the outside while tuning the nut on the inside instead of having slots to hold it on the inside which are totaly useless when installing it through hull in a tight place which I am sure that 90 % are.

Replaced old plastic thruhulls with these. Hose barb models are above waterline only. Nice polished finish, cheaper than the Groco equivalents.
