2013-03-26NANCY THILL: Margaret: This is the BEST paint. I would say the color is closer to stainless steel. It is difficult to tell from the itty-bitty color swatch, but that is truer to the color.

I only have experience with Mid Green, which is the correct color for the oil filter cannister on my '67' Triumph TR4A. I would guess, and this is only a guess, thet the Siler/Gray would be brighter than graphite, but most likely duller than stainless steel? Good Luck! Ron Parks
2013-03-28ANTHONY J. WHEELER: I bought Hammered Finish (Black). It's a great product, much better than Rustorium(sp). Its finish looks like the metal was truly hammered and not just sprayed on. I used it on Patio furniture (metal) which I leave out year round. So far it looks the same now as when I used Hammerite Finish back in 2009, its still great. Hope this helps. Anthony J. W

2012-08-24JEFFREY HAAS: I believe it can, but it has to be hard wood, not soft/porous. I would use a compatible primer first, lightly smooth sand it.
The question surrounding Hammerite paints is their "ripple" effect is created by two different drying times to the two components of the paint.

2012-08-25LORAYNE HAM: Yes, I have found you can use it very well on wood and have used it in my kitchen on the inside of my cabinets. The only thing I had issues with is that clove spice actually melts hammerite, who knew!
I love hammerite and have used it in many areas of my home and garden.

2012-02-21KEVIN KAY KAY: We have used this product on Aston Martin cam covers for many years as this was the original finish. We have had absolutely no problem with adhesion.
2012-02-21DALE INLOW: I cannot answer what the upper temperature is, however, I used the paint on my truck heater which contains the heater core. The core can get to 180+ degrees, which means the outer painted shell is probably around 150 degrees. There has been no flaking or any noticeable change in the paint for a year. With that said, the valve cover sets near the exhaust manifold which can reach much higher temperatures. I'm not sure this paint is rated as "high-temperature" and maybe not the best choice for that application.

Hammertone paint will give you different finishes based on how heavy or light you spray it on. You can't "fog" or "mist" this stuff on and get the nice hammered finish most folks are looking for. Lighter coats give less hammering and thicker coats give more hammering (but is harder to control). Try spraying on a piece of scrap material and use a couple of different techniques before applying to your project to make sure you ge the finish you want.

I've used the Hammerite hammertone paint to restore vintage 1940's and 1950's DUAL Parking Meters to their original look. I've also used it to paint the stands I built to simulate parking meter posts, for other meters. The finish is amazingly like the original vintage color. This paint dries fast and to a hard durable finish. A pleasure to work with, with professional results.
