So, what do all these features mean? With all of the hype surrounding the Festool Kapex, it's important that the tangible benefits of this saw are clearly explained.

First off, the Kapex is truly lightweight and easy to move at only 47 lbs. In fact, this is the lightest 10 inch sliding compound miter saw on the market.

Festool designed it to be able to be used against a wall or window, and the rails extend out over the front of the base. Wide, fixed rails make for smooth cuts.

Accurate bevel cuts are ensured by virtue of a large 7 inch bevel gauge that allows 1/2 degree increments. There are bevel pointers on both sides of the saw. Dial in a precise bevel angle with an easy to use adjuster without having to support the motor.

For safety reasons, Festool designed the Kapex so the saw motor will not start unless the safety trigger is completely engaged and the safety switch is also depressed.

Shops and work environments get dusty quickly, but the dust collection and extraction power of this saw is unparalleled. Whether cutting flat or in vertical chop saw mode, sawdust will not interfere with cuts.

The base of the Kapex is a magnesium alloy that is lightweight, with deep ribbing for stability and strength. The base's integrated blade trough also provides additional protection for the blade during transport.

Rubber feet in each corner provide slip-resistance to enhance stability on the floor or when fitting into the grid hole pattern of all Festool Multifunction tables, including the new MFT/3-Kapex. The spacing of the round rubber feet and their diameter allows the base of the Kapex to "drop" right into the perforated plate.

Festool also offers a clamping kit to securely fasten the base to any Festool perforated plate via the integrated flush mount pocket.

      I have owned this saw for a year and use it almost every day. I did a lot of research before buying this miter saw and am very happy with it. The rail forward design is great and it cuts are very accurate, quiet and smooth. I have tried many other miter saws and this is by far the best I have used.

          seriously the best miter saw. I have had saws that took less maintenance but I have never had a saw this accurate, right out of the box it was cutting perfect 45 deg angles. Dust collection is as good as it gets. If you need talking into, then this saw is not for you. If you want the best, you'll have to pay the prices but you can rest assured, you will have the best. Note: this saw is not for everyone. If you work outside, don't need dust collection, and within a half degree is good then grab one of those $500 models.

          I've owned this saw for almost one year. The handle design is not comfortable for the grip. There should also be a micro-adjustment for the miter cuts. There should be zero-tolerence in the design and function of the machine for the price you are paying. I am very disappointed.

          This tool is overpriced for it's features. Right out of the box the detents were not accurate and the laser guide is off by 3/32". I do mostly finish work, when cutting off small end pieces from trim, the cut-offs get caught in the kerf guard on the table and tweak the blade ruing the cut. The kerf guide is too far apart and very flimsy. Festool needs to offer a zero tolerence guard that is stiffer. I have contacted Festool, but never received a response.

          Wow, what a miter saw. When cutting even hardwood it is incredibly quiet. Very good dust collection. The rail-forward design saves space behind the saw during use. Terrific engineering. The Germans know their stuff.
