Questions & Answers about MAS Epoxies Resin and Hardener Pumps :
2012-05-01ROBERT L'HEUREUX asked: the description states fits quart size and up....what do you use with 1 quart resin and 1pint hardener? 2 to 1 ratio....correct?
+Expand Answers
2012-05-02BRAD KURLANCHEEK: as long as you use the MAS pumps, you'll have the right ratio; one pump on the resin pump, and one pump on the hardener pump, no matter what size the container, will give you the right ratio
2012-05-02RICHARD POWELL: Correct.
The 2:1 ratio pertains to equivalent volumes; i.e. 2 pints:1 pint.
[note: as 1 quart = 2 pints by volume, 1quart resin to 1 pint hardener is correct.
You can make smaller batches using the same ratio, e.g. 1 cup:1/2 cup.
Pumps make it easier as you can count the strokes in a 2:1 count for however large or small a batch you need.
(Don't get confused because resins and hardeners are available in different size containers)
2012-05-02DANA HAGER: You still use a 2:1 ratio. For small batches I use a digital Scale like the "West System 320 Small Batch Epoxy Scale" or measuring cups. The scale is also useful for testing the calibration of the pumps to assure their accuracy if using larger containers.
2012-05-03ROBERT BARKER: Yes, 2:1 ratio of resin to hardener. The pumps will meter outthe correct ratio so you use only one stroke of each pump. The directions spell it out pretty well. You cut the length of tube that fits into the bottom of the pump to fit whatever size of bottles you have.

Comments about MAS Epoxies Resin and Hardener Pumps:
It is simpler then measuring but you need check periodically that the pumps are working and the volume in your jugs are high enough. They need periodic cleaning too. I had a set go bad after 2.5 gallons of use.
Bottom Line: Much easier then measuring but it is slower. If you are only doing small pots of epoxy I think this is the way to go. For larger pours or if you have a helper this item is not worth the hype.

Precise dispensing
Comments about MAS Epoxies Resin and Hardener Pumps:
Matched epoxy pumps are definitely the best way to dispense for mixing the proper quantities of goo. It is was too easy to not mix the correct amounts and cause yourself issues. Be aware that you should buy pumps to match the resin you buy. Most brands of epoxy have different mix ratios.
