Gluvit is a waterproof epoxy sealer used to find, fill and seal leaks. Use it on cracks in fiberglass, metal, and wood on your boat or in your home.
Application results in a hard, impact and abrasion resistant protective barrier coat that minimizes fiberglass blistering and corrosion. In addition, the hard protective coating flexes with hull movements to bridge and seal hairline cracks. Use Gluvit on aluminum fishing boats to repair leaky aluminum seams and rivets.
The cure rate has a long working time that allows penetration into cracks to seal and strengthen. Gluvit fills minor chips and pinholes, and is easily painted with most bottom or topside coatings and paints.

Questions & Answers about Gluvit Epoxy Water Sealer:
2013-04-23KAREN WICKMAN asked: We have a fiberglass boat, and can't find the small leak which we isolated to the back area of the boat, near the drain plug. Will Gluvit work on a fiberglass boat?
2013-04-10RON LANGDON asked: What color is gluvit when it dries ?
+Expand Answers
2013-04-11Kevin V: It is an off white.
2013-04-02A shopper asked: I have a 1964 star craft Alum, the bottom has kool deck a applied and what looks like bondo over a lot of the rivets, a big mess. the inside is clean but mostly covered with floor. Is it worth it too wire wheel the leaking areas and 2-3 coats of gluvit? Does it hold on the outside and how should i prep it?
+Expand Answers
2013-04-28BRIAN QUIN: Gluvit will adhere to aluminum if its scuffed up with your wire wheel. I don't know what cool deck is but it sounds like it shouldn't be on the bottom of a boat.
Is it worth it? Depends on how badly you want this boat.
Best to remove anything that doesn't belong there. If it doesn't want to come off just sand it smooth and apply Gluvit.
2013-04-29Andrew Lumley: If you clean it real well Gluvit should do the trick, lots of people use it and have had good results.
2013-03-21HUGH SAYLER asked: I have 2/3 gal glovit about 3 years old. I tried to seal up a leak in a plastic windshield washer plastic container on my old car but it won,t set. Does the catalyst go bad? can you buy new catylist without the glovit? Is there a way to make the golvit set that is in place on the inside og the container. I haven't been able to find a new one or a good used one. [The glovit can was sealed tightly but the catalyst leaked a little out the cap.]
+Expand Answers
2013-03-25Kerry Souza: The catalyst kicked and is unfortunately not going to cure. The system sells as a kit and as a result the catalyst cannot be sold separately, you will need to remove the old product from your project and buy a new kit.
Thank You.
2013-03-25Hugh Sayler: There is a way to make it set. Put it in direct sunlight for a day and keep it facinjg the sun. The UV will slowly make it set.
2013-03-13A shopper asked: can you get this in quarts?
+Expand Answers
2013-03-15Kevin V: Yes it comes in quarts.
2013-02-25CHRIS BOESTERT asked: Will Gulvit fix leaking due to metal fatigue cracks on an aluminium hull? Aluminium is 2mm thick
+Expand Answers
2013-03-27TIM FIVES: If you have metal fatigue. You need to reinforce the hull. Gluvit will not work for that. While it may slow the leak down. It will not prevent failure in the hull. Identify the root of the problem, reinforce and then seal.
2013-03-28STEPHEN HEFFRON: I used Gluvit on a wood deck so unfortunately I don't have any experience using it on metal applications.
2013-03-28Andrew Lumley: Didn't work but not the fault of the product. This Myers aluminum boat was made way to thin and it flexes when going over the smallest wave thus making the rivets leak. It did take care of the leaks for a while though and under normal circumstances it would do the job.
2013-01-22MAURICE SHEPPARD asked: How many square feet does a gallon cover?
+Expand Answers
2013-01-26CARL LINDBERG: too long ago to remember.......the mfg. should be able to provide this info
2013-01-26BRIAN QUIN: Sorry, I can't answer that with any accuracy and I doubt the Gluvit company will either. Gluvit was developed to fill cracks and rot in wood so it would depend on how deeply cracked or rotted your project is. Also, Gluvit is pretty thick, something like the viscosity of honey and even thicker on cold days. It won't spread nicely like paint and is thicker than conventional epoxy. That's the best I can do.
2013-01-19A shopper asked: coverage?
+Expand Answers
2013-01-30Kerry Souza: Available in 2 lb and 8 lb kits. Expect a 2 lb unit of Gluvit to cover 25-35 square feet, when applied at 6-8 mils. An 8 lb unit covers 100-130 square feet at the same thickness. Qt = 2 lb unit ; Gal = 8 lb unit. Thank you.
2013-02-26BRIAN QUIN: The answer is not as simple as your question. Gluvit is designed to fill cracks and crevices, even, in some cases, rotted wood. Its consistency is akin to room temperature honey so it depends on the porosity of your project. Be advised, though, the can you buy is only half full, allowing room to mix the two parts.
2013-02-26SCOTT SHEARIN: coverage is good, it is THICK though, but that is what you are buying it for to fill cracks, holes etc. And it is Great Stuff!
2013-02-26MICHAEL M. CLANCY: I cover the bottom of both pontoons and no leaks
2012-12-24W W asked: Can this product be applied on wet area?
+Expand Answers
2012-12-26MICHAEL M. CLANCY: no it must be dry when applied, but it does NOT leak when dry and hard
2012-12-26JOHN T. GREINER: To tell you the truth, I never tried it. Everything I used it on was dry.
2012-12-26BRIAN QUIN: In a word, no. Gluvit is an epoxy, a wet surface won't allow it to adhere.
2013-01-11galen christy: no the boat is on land so if use the product
2012-10-29DARWIN FEAKES asked: What kind of paint would be best to apply over gluvit? I am using it on the inside of my aluminum boat so it could be a top coat single part epoxy like Top Secret? if you handle a paint you would suggest can you tell me what colors are available.
+Expand Answers
2012-10-30Nathan Fournier: The best would be a two-part epoxy primer like Prime-Kote "INT-0404Q" (1 coat) after the surface has been sanded and cleaned well. Followed by Interlux Perfection Paint "INT-YHA192KITQ" this part # will bring you to our website page with several different color options, click on "Product Info" to get a better look. Make sure to sand with 320-grit in-between coats of the Perfection (two coats) and use the "INT-2333Q" brushing reducer. This system will give you excellent durability and longevity compared to a simple 1 part system. Thank you.

I would definitely use this product again for sealing metal, fiberglass, or wood (in fact, I am thinking of using it for a boat that I intend to restore). Great product - great company - I will definitely purchase again from Jamestown.

Comments about Marine Tex Gluvit Epoxy Water Sealer:
If you can paint a wall in your home or apartment, you will be amazed at how easy this product is to use. I am not a fast painter, but doing one section at a time is very easy, and even more amazing is after the product dries. It covers completely and you can see for yourself what a great product this is. You might want to paint afterwards. I'm going to use a non slip paint on my boat.

It applied pretty easily. I mixed it in 2 separate batches which was a little difficult. I repaired the bottom of an aluminum deck boat at the seam. I looks like it has sealed well, but I haven't had it in the water yet.

We used this product to seal cracks on the fiberglassed deck of our wooden boat. Then we painted it over with non skid paint. It sealed great. We washed down the deck and found no leaks at all. We applied the product around the hatches as well. Exceptional seal!

The boat I just purchased had minor leaks along several seams. I ran Gluvit along the seams and, for good measure, over the rivits. Didn't take much to do that. No leaks now. I'm happy. The stuff is barely visible on the alum. I prep'ed with brass wire brush in drill.

Comments about Marine Tex Gluvit Epoxy Water Sealer:
Although I have two wooden boats, I have only needed to use Gluvit to line and protect wooden gutters on historic house rehabs. It has worked unbelievably well in this application. My boats are wooden but they are also cold molded, so I have never needed Gluvit for marine applications. I'm sure it is great.

I used this on the bottom of my aluminum boat and also my husband painted the interior floor of his fierglass boat to seal before rebuilding the floor which had rotted out. Coverage is great a little goes a long way, The 5:1 ratio worked well for me,if your a first time user like me,I would not mix the whole can at once for a bottom boat project if I had it would have gone to waste.Smells awful make sure you use in well ventilated area. But was all worth it ,my boat does not leak a drop, taking the husbands fiberglass out tomorrow.
