2012-03-23JOHN QUIMBY: I used it to wrap a dozen splices on a badly-damaged, fifty-foot extension cord (mower ran over it). It gets constant use now, albeit affixed to the outside wall of the house to serve power to a fixed appliance. It gets only a minor amount of water challenge (perhaps wind-blown rain), but I have had no problems with the wraps. They appear to be quite firm and durable.
2012-04-05WAYNE ORVIK: Vinyl electrical tape in general is not for waterproofing an electrical connection it is for insulating bare wires from making contact with other wires or grounding. If you want a waterproof seal you will need to look into adhesive lined heat shrink tubing.
Comments about 3M Scotch #35 - Color Electrical Tape:
The five color variety pack is a good way to get multiple tapes for not much money. I use them to color code wiring runs and hoses used in boat plumbing. I also used these tapes to color code my luggage- black bags at the airport all look alike.
