2011-10-15GUY BENJAMIN asked: I havea 3 wire( red, reen and black) DC circuit runnin to an outlet that I want to split into another run for a second outlet. This looks to have two screws. What do I do with the reen wire?

2011-10-17JEFFREY WARREN: Since you stated DC circuit, I assume either 12 or 24 volt system. You should check to see which is the negative and what the voltage is for the other two wires. Is this perhaps for a bilge pump or nav lights? One wire may be for pump manual on (hot #1), the second (hot #2) is probably level switched. Or if Nav lights, one is for the anchor light, the other for the underway lights. The third should be for the negative, A DC volt meter will solve the question. You should buy a term strip with more contacts than necessary, just for the future.

2011-10-19HAROLD EUBANK: I assume you are referring to a 110 volt plug. If some the black is usually the hot wire, the red is the return wire, and the green is the ground wire. If this is the case you should change the second outlet to one with a green (ground) connection usually found on the side of the plug. Hope this helps.
