Comments about ProPrep All Purpose Scraper Kit:

I have been stripping a lot of varnish and paint on a 60 year old wood boat. Even though I have a variety of scrapers, I find I use the ProPrep almost exclusively. I have used it with citrus strippers and also, most commonly with a heat gun.

The scraper fits well in the hand and is easy to adjust the angle needed to scrape effectively. The size and shape of the standard flat blade is nearly perfect. The shape and weight of the handle is excellent. The steel is the blade both holds an edge and is pretty easy to sharpen. It is important to have a good quality file and to learn to put a good edge on the blades.

Need a scraper - buy the ProPrep!

Comments about ProPrep All Purpose Scraper Kit:

I like this ProPrep scraper for detailed and hard to get at areas. The handle is ergonomic in that it tapers from butt to tip. I find it very rugged and I have pulled very hard without any breakage or distortion of the tool. It is lightweight and refined. The blade is held with two finer screws instead of one large screw. Most important aspect of the design is that the blade extends far beyond the screw mount so that reaches into narrow areas and it does not get filled with paint chips. For large areas I use a two-handled carbide tipped scraper. The carbide type is the the primary workhorse in my paint removal and not the Proprep. However, the carbide type extends only 1/8 inch beyond the holder so paint can get stuck there and prevent further removal. Also the carbide blade must be shapened with a diamond-surface sharpening stone. The ProPrep scrapers have stainless steel blades and can be shapened with a file or regular shapening stone. Moldings, tight areas, and corners are for which I I use the PropPrep.
