A Float Switch that Floats?

By Tam Lin

from NY

Comments about Rule Industries Rule 35 Rule-A-Matic Float Switches:

I have used several of these over the years. Can somebody PLEASE invent a float switch that FLOATS! put a penny's worth of foam in it. They always end up leaking and filling with water, which means your boat also fills with water.
They also have a tendency to stick. Despite all of this, I have not found a suitable replacement. Buy two and use one as a back up. I guess I will reluctantly recommend it as I am about to order another!

Comments about Rule Industries Rule 35 Rule-A-Matic Float Switches:

The Rule 35 bilge float switch failed after only 6 months, and it failed in the ON position, draining my boat's battery and burning up my new bilge pump (once the water level dropped and the pump never cooled down).

      This switch works

Comments about Rule Industries Rule 35 Rule-A-Matic Float Switches:

Works great when it works. Meaning that I purchased two (one spare) and one did not work. To much trouble to return it however the one that worked really works. I replaced an older Rule switch that sustained considerable abuse and was not something that one would wish to rely. Easy to install. Just follow the directions.

Comments about Rule Industries Rule 35 Rule-A-Matic Float Switches:

This is the new style mercury-free switch. I have always liked the reliability and simplicity of mercury switches. The new style click switch works fine when new. Time will tell if it is as good as the old mercury switch. The new style is a little larger, so consider this if clearance is an issue. This switch fits in my shower sump with 1/8" clearance, but it is working.
