This adaptor has a 5/8-11 internal thread which turns onto a polisher on one end and a short 5/8-11 external thread on the other end. 2012-06-05KEITH KLOCZKOWSKI: When you buy the proper pads, the threaded end of the adapter threads into the polishing pad.
2012-06-05STEVEN J. LARENA: The female end of the adapter screws onto the buffer, while the male end screws onto the pad. You need to make sure you buy the correct pad.
2012-06-05JASON WALL: 3m superbuff pads have a threaded backup plate that accepts the male end of the adapter, iam not familiar with other brands or non superbuff 3m pads.
