King Starboard is the original marine-grade polymer and the industry standard. It is the product of a proprietary process called K-Stran, the most advanced manufacturing process available for producing consistently flat continuous sheets. King StarBoard is easy to work with using standard woodworking tools, and design changes are a snap.
In addition, the installed cost of King StarBoard is less than teak, other common marine woods, and fiberglass. Plus, our large sheet sizes maximize your yield. Boat buyers appreciate King StarBoard's low-maintenance finish. Repair and refinishing due to weathering and decay are eliminated, and cleaning is easy.

Questions & Answers about King Starboard 3/4":
2013-03-31BILL FLANNIGAN asked: Can I paint starboard with Pettit Easypoxy, and will it stay on?? I want to use it for 2 hatches on my Four Winns, plywood just doesn't last.
+Expand Answers
2013-04-03DAVID MCCLORRY: I can't speak for that particular Pettit product but I can tell you that Interlux Epoxy PreKote does not stick to starboard
2013-04-03GREG VAN NORMAN: I don't think paint will adhere to the starboard. It does have a fine texture on the surface, but it has a waxy feel to it. Maybe check with the manufacturer to see if it's possible using a special primer.
2013-04-03PETER HAYDEN: No, I don't think that will work. Basically nothing will stick to it.
2013-04-03EDWARD SAUVAIN: While I used Starboard for hatch boards on a sailboat, I didn't paint it so I can't answer your question. It has done very well for the hatch boards.
2013-04-05BRYCE LOOKER: I havn't had much luck keeping paint on this stuff, I figure that's why it comes in different colors
2012-06-18A shopper asked: Is this the same material that would be used for cutting boards?
+Expand Answers
2012-06-18CLIFTON OGDEN: Yes, same material as cutting boards. I prefer white for said purpose so I can get a visual check of cleanliness.
2012-06-18TIMOTHY TAIT: It may be. Typically cutting boards are high density polyethylene, which Starboard is as well. However Starboard has an expensive and effective UV inhibitor package in it to keep the product white in the presence of sunlight. So saying this Starboard will likely give good service as a cutting board, particularly outside.
2012-06-18CHRISTOPHER BENJES: Looks just like it but I think a knife blade wiould gouge king starboard much more than a cutting board. It is strong and sturdy but will scratch.
2012-06-18DAVID FICK: Yes, cutting boards are made of . In fact, I used some to make a fish cleaning table. I have also used it for counter tops outside, and to replace any exterior wood on my sailboat. It can be worked like wood and lasts forever.
2012-06-18PETER HAYDEN: I think so, but can't say for certain.
2012-06-18SEAN RICHARDSON: No , it's not food grade plastic so don't use it for those purposes.
2012-06-19JAMES MURPHY: I DON'T THINK IT IS , BUT IT HAS SOME OF THE SAME CHARACTERISTICS EXCEPT IT IS STRONGER AND IS A QUALITY PRODUCT
2012-06-19DAVID MCLEOD: Yes, it's the same materialused for cutting boards. The 3/4" is very sturdy.
Good product. Very pleased with mine. I use mine to clean fish and deer.
2011-12-05LARRY Z asked: Is seafoam more like offwhite. I have a 1989 Tiara that is Ermine in color?
+Expand Answers
2012-01-29PETER HAYDEN: I bought white, so I can't really help on Seafoam. Sorry
2011-10-15GARRETT SCOTT asked: I'm replacing the transom wood on a 14' aluminum outboard powered runabout rated for 30hp and am wondering if Starboard would be a good maintenance free replacement for plywood?
+Expand Answers
2011-10-28DAVID NITZ: I would worry about using it for a transom with a 30 HP outboard. King Plastics says on their web site that King Starboard is not designed to be a structural material. I've only used it in applications where it is not heavily loaded.
2011-08-06A shopper asked: wanting to make full width swim platform on bayliner. Should I use 3/4 or would 1/2 work? How many supports would be required in a 96 wide X 24 platform?
+Expand Answers
2011-08-08Ryan L: This product is not recommended for your application. When Starboard gets wet it becomes extremely slippery, making its use as a swim platform very dangerous.
