2012-05-30ROBERT SHEEHAN: i put the brush in to where the metal begins
2012-05-30RICHARD TRASKOS: Either will work - the goal it to cover the hairs. IMO
2012-05-30STAN HONOROWSKI: I cover the metal, assuming there is bristle under there. I use diesel for storing them, and paint thinner for cleaning.

2012-05-30BILL JORCH: I just cover the hair. It is less messy when you go to dry and use them.
2012-05-30ONOFRE SEGURA: Hi,
What I do is cover half the ferrule, (metal).
The kerosene is absorbed by capilarity up inside it and I go a bit more to make sure all the hair is well covered.
Cheers!

[...] sells these identical containers without the rack for [$]bucks. Bend a few pieces of wire from coat hooks to arrange aroung the sides and save yourself $35. Plus by making individual hangers you can adjust how high or low the brushes hang. Great idea just overpriced!

Comments about Jamestown Distributors Paint Brush Keeper:
Have used this for a year so far, keeping varnish brushes ready to use. It could stand to be a little taller; some brushes with long handles don't fit. Recently I had to add a clamp to it because the sides had bulged out a bit, allowing the brush rack to fall down. The clamp is a nuisance but I'll keep on using the keeper unless I find a better one.

Comments about Jamestown Distributors Paint Brush Keeper:
While the brush keeper works as advertised, essentially it is just a tupperware container with a "T" in it to hold the brushes off the bottom. For this, I would think 20 bucks. At this price not really worth it, unless you keep real expensive brushes, then I could see it. I use it, like it, but wish it was cheaper.

The keeper works exactly as advertised. Save and preserve your expensive, high quality brushes with this unit. I saved a bundle on varnish brushes alone!
