Wood Plug Cutters

Cut your own wood plugs with Fuller Plug Cutters. WL Fuller's carbon steel plug cutters are heat treat and hardened for long life and clean cuts. Four bladed plug cutters do not eject plugs; it remains on the board and can be broken out with a screwdriver or sawed free. Suitable for both Softwood and most Hardwoods.

Using wood plugs is a great way to eliminate nail holes and marks in wood. Wood putty simply does not look as good over time, nor does it seal as well. Using a glued wood plug ensures the best possible seal and appearance with long term durability. One more tip: For best results, use plug cutters in a drill press if possible.

Comments about W.L. Fuller Wood Plug Cutters:

This item worked just fine for cutting a few plugs from a piece of ash. The plugs seemed a little smaller than the corresponding holes. That might have been due to the plug cutter, runout in my drill press, the size of the drill use used for the hole, or the fact that I had to drill the holes with a handheld drill. So, size of the plug cutter may well be accurate. Packaging for the product was nothing special (a zip-lock baggie), but the cutter did come with a rubber cap to keep the blades sharp while in storage.

Comments about W.L. Fuller Wood Plug Cutters:

I used to build wooden boats professionally and we only used Fuller bits, countersinks and plug cutters in our shop. These plug cutters saw heavy use for all our projects in both soft and hardwoods and lasted for months without having to be sharpened or replaced. A little pricier than competitor products but worth every penny.

I do woodworking as a hobby and was looking for a bigger size plug cutter, I was not able to purchase it locally so when I found it at JD I ordered it right away and am very happy with this product.

Comments about W.L. Fuller Wood Plug Cutters:

Tapered plug cutters I bought from Lee Valley seem to have just the right diameter - tapered such that the diameter matching the correpsonding size hole is reached before the top of the plug. This one from Fuller seems to produce plugs where the diameter matching the hole is at the top of the plug, generally resulting in the plug seating below flush with the surrounding surface.

Great cutter. Sharp and beefy enough for a smooth cut and low vibration. Using to cut bungs from cypress for a boat restoration job.
