FLS transducer can be turned to look sideways out from the boat which allows time to become the third dimension. Also, as the vessel moves ahead a three dimensional view of the seabed is built up. A second transducer and the changeover switch may be fitted enabling forward or sidescan mode to be quickly selected. If preferred, a single transducer can be turned to look in the desired direction.
Sidescan 3D provides coverage of areas up to 150 meters away from the boat and has a maximum depth capability of 75 meters. If your boat is traveling 5 knots an impressive 11,250 square meters of seabed can be displayed on a lattice of 240 points. The Sidescan 3D is unique in its ability to provide a real time 3D picture of the seabed over such a large area. The 240 point lattice is fine enough to show a detailed view of the seabed and structure below your boat.
The EchoPilot Sidescan 3D includes all the functional features of the FLS Gold, like the 150 meter forward view FLS with a choice of 6 ranges from 20 meters to 150 meters ahead and from 10 meters to 75 meters down. The forward alarm function alarms a section of the screen 2,4,6, or 8 meters below the transducer right up to 150 meters ahead. Units can be changed to feet in the menu. The optional repeater unit is fully equipped and housed in the same case as the master instrument.
This system has a NMEA interface that allows the instrument to accept and display GPS data and also to accept or output speed and depth to other instruments. If speed, trip and log are required just fit with the optional log transducer, available in paddle wheel or ultrasonic versions. The ultrasonic version has no moving parts to foul or wear. The digital depth is an average of the first one third of the screen, an advantage over ordinary digital echo sounders, which just display historical information.
