Questions & Answers about MAS Bio-Solv Acetone Replacement:
2012-07-19MATT SALATINO asked: I've used Acetone successfully as a thinner to spray gel coat.
Can Bio-Solv be used as a thinner, mixed with gel coat to thin it for spraying?
+Expand Answers
2012-09-04DEAN CALLAHAN: I used Bio-Solv to thin gelcoat when spraying with a Preval for a touchup. It seemed the basically same as standard acetone.
2012-07-19A shopper asked: Boi-Solve says it is reusable. If you clean rollers and other tools with epoxy resin on them in this product will the epoxy settle out to the bottom so you can pour the Bio-Solve off the top to reuse?
+Expand Answers
2012-08-06DEAN CALLAHAN: I have not yet cleaned a roller used for resin. So far I have used Bio-Solve to clean tools after painting with enamel bilge paint and epoxy paints. The paints did settle out and I did decanter the clean bio-solve off and reused. Also, I have run it thru my gun after spraying gelcoat. The gun was cleaned and the spray thru did separate so I assume resin would settle out and allow reuse of the solvent. I have found bio-solve to be very similar to acetone although ever so slightly less aggressive (but not impacting usability). After use the solvent is discolored and therefore contains contaminants. So far I have used thru a few cleaning cycles and still going well. I am curious how many reuse cycles I can go through. So far I am quite pleased with results. An added bonus is the odor is not as strong as acetone. I have not yet hit the point where Bio-Solve did not perform as needed.
Hope that helps.
On exterior, it worked well but is slower to lift than Acetone. Environmentally safer. No face mask, no special clothing, just gloves. Use a plastic scraper to lift off crud, then wipe clean with Mineral Spirits.

Comments about MAS Bio-Solv Acetone Replacement:
This is a great product to use to remove excess contact cement from laminate placement on counter tops, or any project where contact cement is used. It does have an odor that lingers, but is much more pleasant than acetone, and you don't have to worry about the health effects that acetone has on your customer, or yourself.
I wouldn't go as far to say it out performs acetone, but it sure does the job as well as acetone. Would especially recommend this product to any professional. Am ordering two more half gallons of this product today.

Comments about MAS Bio-Solv Acetone Replacement:
This works great as a replacement for Acetone or Alcohol when working with Epoxy.
It doesn't evaporate as quickly, so you can use less and the rag stays wet longer. It does not leave a residue.
It has a "fruity" smell, very unlike Acetone or Alcohol. Although not suggested, I have not noticed any health effects or irritation due to vapors in a confined space.
I found this good for cleaning up if you get wet epoxy on your skin without burning or skin irritation.
