Questions & Answers about BIC Sport Sportyak Dinghy - 7ft:
Mine is 40 years old, though she never got any more name than the Orange Dinghy. She started out as a dinghy for my 20' sailboat. When I had to give the 20 footer up I made a sailing rig for the Sportyak and sailed until my daughter outgrew the space forward of the mast. Then I built a sailing dinghy from a kit, soaking the planks in the Sportyak when they needed a little help bending. Now I no longer have the strength and energy to paint and launch that dinghy, but the Sportyak's old rig got lost in a move long ago, so I've ordered a sailing rig made for inflatables, which I believe I can use or adapt for the Sportyak. There's nothing to paint but the oars and oarlock blocks, and with the wheels I attached to the motor mount long ago, I can launch her without help. She'll make a good easy little sailboat to get old in.

Comments about BIC Sport Sportyak Dinghy - 7ft:
I bought this Sportyak with a sail kit with my paper route money back in the late sixties. It's been in the family and now was handed down to my son. It was a bit tight for a large adult and a kid, but we went out on our inaugural row, now he enjoys it as did I. Great little thing and it lasts forever. Do get the rub rail as the edges can be a bit sharp, at least that was the case on the older models, do not know about the new ones. Enjoy.

Comments about BIC Sport Sportyak Dinghy - 7ft:
From 1962 to 2000 I used one for fishing Idaho back country lakes and streams, as a pond crawler in WI, a pond toy for grandkids, and, since it is slick, a sled and a tow-behind sled for a snowmobile (twice to Old Faithful). And when it finally cracked from old age, you can put it on sawhorses and fill it with beer and ice. That's it's present use this century.
