The Garmin GPSMAP 620 and 640 Portable GPS units feature high-resolution touchscreen displays with both marine and automotive capabilities. Both GPS units come preloaded with a worldwide satellite basemap for a 'view-from-space' imagery of shorelines and other surface features in the area.
The GPSMAP 640 adds XM WX satellite weather data in marine mode and XM NavTraffic information in automotive mode with an optional GXM 40 antenna and XM subscription. The GPSMAP 640 also features preloaded street maps that provide coastal as well as detailed road maps.
In marine mode, the GPSMAP 640 brings you tides and currents, depth contours, navaids, port plans and marine services via preloaded BlueChart g2 marine data. And with optional BlueChart g2 Vision cards, you'll get 3D 'mariner's eye view' above the waterline and 'fish eye view' below the waterline.
