Comments about Shimano Saguaro Spinning Rods:

Gordon's Gully is about 15 miles south of the Hooter, the outermost southern bouy at bottom of Muskeget Channel. We ran offshore here because the day inside at bonito bar was slow, at best. As we arrived at bonito bar that morning via inside Nantucket Sound we opted to take the offshore route home. At least this way we could still have shot at seeing tuna.

And we did. And I hooked up. At Gordon's Gully. To a monster.

After a very focused 35 minute fight I had my first bluefin less than 3ft from our starboard rail. Gaff in hand Scott leaned over to grab my leader and help me land this sucker when all of a sudden my plug pulled and we were left with nothing more than a final look at my very first tuna swimming herself back to life and away from us forever.

I was not a happy camper. And Scott and I were both shocked. At first I thought my knot failed; if not that then my gear must have failed; and if not either those then my hook must have straightened; or did my line snap? All these scenarios ran through my mind immediately as I fell backwards, down and hard when the tension of my fish let up in an instant. But nothing- no knot failed, no gear failed, no hooks had straightened, no line snapped.

This fish beat me outright. As for my gear, it rocked. Scott and I were both impressed, thank you JD.
