The Garmin eTrex H series was designed for the outdoor enthusiast looking for a powerful handheld GPS with great features and a low cost.
All eTrex handhelds feature an easy to read 4 level gray LCD display and a high-sensitivity GPS receiver that locks onto satellite signals quickly and maintains accuracy even in deep canyons or dense forests. A rugged, waterproof exterior casing encloses the lightweight GPS and easily fits into the palm of your hand.
The Legend model comes complete with basemaps (containing lakes, rivers, coastlines and more), marine navigation aids, a USB port, and a 24 MB internal memory for added storage space. The Vista model comes with all of these features, plus a built in electronic compass and barometric altimeter. The display is also significantly larger in the Legend and Vista models.

The eTrex Legend H includes a basemap that contains lakes, rivers, cities, major routes, railroads, and coastlines as well as preloaded marine navigation aids. The Legend's 24 MB of internal memory, along with a USB port allows you to download even more map detail. In addition, the Legend has an increased display size.
The eTrex Vista H contains all of the features of the Legend, but adds in two more. An electronic compass provides bearing information even while you're standing still, and a barometric altimeter tracks changes in pressure to pinpoint your precise altitude. The altimeter can also be set to plot barometric pressure over time, which can help keep an eye on changing weather conditions as they roll in.
