Avet's HX 5/2 is an extremely capable offshore reel that can handle wahoo, large tuna and even marlin. The HX is about the size of a 4/0 class reel but it's lighter and holds more line.
5:1 gear ratio in high allows you to cast a bait or plug and have a fast retrieve to entice strikes from fast moving gamefish. The 2.1:1 in low gear virtually turns the reel into a winch that's capable of standing up to large pelagics like tuna and billfish.
The combination of 8 stainless ball bearings and an oversized carbon fiber drag make these reels incredibly smooth. The harness lugs can also be reversed (lugs/plugs).
The HX-MC features Avet's unique cast control feature that allows you to customize the spool speed to your experience level, minimizing backlashes. The MC control can also be used as a line out adjustment for your bait when live lining.
