Moeller Drain Tubes are designed to allow water and fluids to flow out. Use a bailer plug to fill the tube when draining is not desired and to prevent water from coming in. These drain tubes are brass and aluminum making them corrosion resistant and have a 90-degree flange.

2012-03-14ROBERT DARBY: You might have found a million dollar idea! That would be great if they did but they do not. Once you get the drain tube that fits your opening you need to get a special tool that gets inserted through the tube and bends the unflared edge around the other side of the opening. The tool is bassically a bolt that goes through the tube with two flared ends. Once tightened the tube will be crimped into place. caulk should be applied inside the opening before the tube is inserted and crimped.

2012-03-14GREG SETTER: No, they do not. They are set in place with sealant and then the straight end needs to be flared once installed. You would need to get these a little bit longer than the distance you need to go with it and then use a flaring tool to seal it against the other side of wherever it is going to.

I installed the 1" tube in a 17 Montauk and used the Jamestown flqaring tool which worked well. If you need small rubber expansion plugs and they can't be found at Jamestown, try a pool supply or plumbing supply
house. Pretty common item. rich
2011-09-29WILLIAM LEIPERT: No. Anything smaller than 1/2" would be near useless as a drain, to easy to clog.
This is a great OE or replacement drain tube piece. Comes with one end flanged and once installed the other end can be easily flanged with a flanging tool. High quality and well made piece!

The tubes are great and good value. The tool to put them in right is expensive, relative to the cost of the tubes. Think of it this way, though. For <$50 I have two very nice transom drain tubes in my sailboat now. I'm happy.

You will need a Flanging tool in order to install the tube.
The flanging tool instructions which came with the tool and the instructions on this site are misleading and incomplete so I would suggest searching the internet forums for worthwhile help.
