The ease of application with its forgiving drying speed and then simple water clean up is truly phenomenal.

During the season scum-scrubs were easy and almost no color migration into the water or onto hands or pads.

The Top-Tracer coat hardly even ablated from June to November even with mid season scrubs and especially the waterline.

I was not present when hauled and pressure washed but the usual remaining dried scum under the straps was maybe less or the same as normal. The bottom truly looks ready to launch, as is, next June and that too is phenomenal. I just have to pop app 10-12 barnacles off . . . . .

Exceptionally glad I tried this product and highly recommend for our bay.

I've used Interlux Micro since 1986 and all it ever took to clean the bottom was a soft deck brush with soap and water. Tried this paint to save a buck- awful. The slime layer was so bad I had to scrape first then scrub with the most abrasive pad I could find. Nightmare. The boat is moored on the Nantucket Sound side of Cape Cod where the water can reach nearly 80 degree in the bays during high summer. Perhaps not the best warm water paint. Product is very thin and goes on easily but fearing I did not apply enough paint I doubled the number of coats, using over 2X the amount of paint compared to the Micron. Despite this, it was still a disaster. Not much fun crawling in and around the trailer of an 18 foot center console cleaning the bottom. Label says low VOC so I went without the respirator at first but quickly had a splitting headache after 10 minutes when applying it outdoors. I recommend wearing a respirator. In the end between the extra time cleaning the bottom and the extra paint, it was not worth the cost difference. Maybe you'll have better results in cooler water or in a different location.

Comments about TotalBoat JD Select Ablative Bottom Paint:

The paint gave excellent coverage. The color wasn't what I thought it would be, but that's my error in thinking shark white would be more white instead of gray... I used it anyways and it refreshed the boat so all is good.

Comments about TotalBoat JD Select Ablative Bottom Paint:

I find painting this antifouling with a large hard brush easier than the roller. Doesn't drip, very easy tuo use. Dry in any sort of weather providing it's not freezing of course.
I find it better than the waterbased one.

Product flowed well and covered great. Cleanup was a breeze, being water-soluble. Adhesion on the second day was poor. Masking tape pulled off the fresh paint (I was also painting the bootstripe).

Our 25' Sea Ray had never been bottom-coated so a once over with a DA and 120# sandpaper prepared it easily. Two coats went on smoothly and without issue. Coverage is good. This fall will reveal it's performance when we haul it....

Do yourself a favor and go get a pair of disposable safety glasses/goggles and a brush for the hard-to-reach spots. Everything else you need will be in the box when your order arrives!

I've always used Interlux high end paint, well my days of paying $250 a gallon are in the past. Just seems foolish...

Tried this paint based on other good products that JD sells. IT went on VERY easy, zero odor. Can't wait to see how it does this season.

Our 32 foot Islander sits in a warm water marina where the water is stagnant and not very fresh and is fairly warm year round. We were pleased to see the minimal growth over the year we have had her in the water since applying this 18 months ago. It worked better than the stuff that was twice as much. We did remove the old paint and did a good prep.
