TotalBoat Underdog Bottom Paint

TotalBoat Underdog is a dependable solvent-based antifouling bottom paint designed to provide outstanding protection at a very affordable price.

Extensive testing has proven that TotalBoat Underdog provides excellent protection against barnacles and other antifouling pests in all water conditions. Ablative technology allows the surface to polish away over time, minimizing paint build-up as well as releasing fresh layers of biocide as the season progresses.

Underdog has excellent adhesion to fiberglass and wood. Gallons available in Blue, Black or Red.

So this was the first time I ever played w/ bottom paint. If you're new, be sure you get the paint really well mixed before you open. When I opened mine, the paint had separated where it was thin on top and sludge on the bottom. Almost broke my wrist mixing it!

I was restoring and painting a rudder and it looks great.

Since we have used TotalBoat Wood Finish on teak and liked it's coverage and high build characteristics I wanted to try the bottom paint. While the jury is still out until the end of the season for the bottom protection the application left something to be desired. Areas required three coats to cover which was far more than the Pettit bottom paint we usually get from Jamestown. The particular boat is going to a new owner in NC and we coated the rudder and keel with Pettit and TotalBoat on the rest of the boat (with the owner's permission). I'll be interested in the owner's report at the end of this season as to the longevity of the two paints. We will go back to Pettit on our other boats. From Jamestown of course.

So far my 25' catalina is the only boat in the my slip area that does not have long green algae attached to it's hull. Underdog did not break the bank and I suspect I'll only need to touch up next year. Very happy with the product.

Easy to apply, good coverage, very nice finish. Take your time and you will not have a single bump or roller ridge. Color chart would be helpful, wasn't sure how dark the blue would be until I opened the can and it was just what I was hoping for. Nice product.
