So this was the first time I ever played w/ bottom paint. If you're new, be sure you get the paint really well mixed before you open. When I opened mine, the paint had separated where it was thin on top and sludge on the bottom. Almost broke my wrist mixing it!

I was restoring and painting a rudder and it looks great.

Since we have used TotalBoat Wood Finish on teak and liked it's coverage and high build characteristics I wanted to try the bottom paint. While the jury is still out until the end of the season for the bottom protection the application left something to be desired. Areas required three coats to cover which was far more than the Pettit bottom paint we usually get from Jamestown. The particular boat is going to a new owner in NC and we coated the rudder and keel with Pettit and TotalBoat on the rest of the boat (with the owner's permission). I'll be interested in the owner's report at the end of this season as to the longevity of the two paints. We will go back to Pettit on our other boats. From Jamestown of course.

Comments about TotalBoat Underdog Bottom Paint:

So far no growth on bottom of boat. It is still early in the season and the water is still cool, but so far so good. Make sure to get a good mix of the paint before applying and make sure you have eye protection. It goes on water thin, and a the roller splatters pretty bad, but covers well. When we launched we touched over the stand spots with a brush, and dried with a heat gun while the boat was in the sling. Worked well in just a few minutes got the spots covered. 29' boat took 1.25 gallons 2 coats. We'll see what it looks like at haul out.

This was the first time I painted my Catalina 25 bottom and was impressed how easy it went on and the 2nd coat was even easier. I am anxious to see the results when I pull her out next season.

Comments about TotalBoat Underdog Bottom Paint:

This product was easy to apply with both a brush and a roller. It was applied on a dry windy day and the paint thickened a couple of times in the pan and in the can, so we thinned it with paint thinner. As far as its effectiveness, we will meed to wait for fall to check the zebra mussel infestation.

Coverage was better than anticipated; 1/2 gallon recoated my Hunter 25' sail boat. Paint evenly rolled out evenly on the hull. Paint suit is a nice accessory.

Comments about TotalBoat Underdog Bottom Paint:

I had originally ordered the paint online, not really knowing what I needed as this was the first time I have bottom painted my boat that I bought last year. After I ordered I called your representative as I was not sure I got the correct product. He spent his time with me and easily changed my order to get the better paint which is a water base paint. He completed the new order and less than 24 hours later I received it in the mail. It came complete with a jump suit (which is now covered with black paint) and the roller and tray. It went on smooth and the bottom looks great. Can't wait to get her in the water.
